Trustee Seeks Repeal of Tax That Benefits Her Community-College District
Mary Ellen Stempfle has been a trustee for the Wayne County Community College District for more than six years.
But few people on the college's campuses will sing her praises.
Ms. Stempfle is circulating a petition that would repeal a recent property-tax increase that is expected to provide the college with some $35-million per year for the next 10 years.
Ms. Stempfle was elected to the Board of Trustees of the Detroit-area college by residents of two affluent suburbs,
