Troubled U. of Tennessee Names an Interim President
Joseph E. Johnson, a former president of the University of Tennessee, has come out of retirement to lead the troubled institution.
The Board of Trustees approved Mr. Johnson, 70, as interim president last month. His first order of business, he said, would be to restore the university's credibility.
John Shumaker, who was accused of financial and ethical improprieties, resigned as president earlier in August. It is the second time in as many years that Tennessee's leader has left
