Tripped Up on Trips Abroad, College Bans Officials' All-Expense-Paid Voyages

The chancellor of the Maricopa County Community College District has ended all-expense-paid trips abroad for officials at the system’s largest college just weeks after The Arizona Republic reported that the system had spent more than $324,000 in the last five years on travel to Europe and other international destinations, the Republic reported this morning.

Officials at Mesa Community College have said the trips were intended to enhance the college’s international stature and its relationships with colleges abroad. Rufus Glasper, the chancellor, has temporarily suspended international travel at all the district’s colleges until an audit is completed, in January.
