Treating Mental Illness in Students: a New Strategy
An estimated 37 percent of Americans aged 15 to 24 -- many of whom are college students -- have a diagnosable mental illness, according to the research of Ronald Kessler, a professor of health-care policy at Harvard Medical School. Ranging from mild and short-lived to chronic and severe, these illnesses -- including depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder -- can be treated. Unfortunately, many cases are not diagnosed or treated.
