Town-Gown Ties and Development
To the Editor:
I enjoyed Northeastern University President Richard M. Freeland's "Universities and Cities Need to Rethink Their Relationships" (The Chronicle Review, May 13). Serving as an economic developer at an urban land-grant university provides me with some opportunity to comment and expand upon his recommendations.
The state of relationships between universities and their cities may in large part result from the type of academic institution in question. Private
