Top Institutions in Federal Research-and-Development Expenditures, 2001 and 2002
Table: The top 100 institutions in research-and-development expenditures, 2001 and 2002Federal funds for academic research increased by 13.6 percent in 2002 over the previous year, the largest increase since 1980, the National Science Foundation has reported. Meanwhile, funds from industry fell by 1.2 percent, the first decrease since 1964.
