The Nebraska Supreme Court convicted a University of Nebraska regent this morning of manipulating campaign-finance laws during his 2004 campaign and then lying to cover it up, according to the Web site of KETV, a television station in Omaha, Neb. The court immediately removed the regent, David Hergert, 66, from office. The ruling followed a vote this past spring by the state’s Legislature to impeach Mr. Hergert (The Chronicle, April 14).
A longer report on the Nebraska court’s ruling will appear on Monday on this Web site.
