Too Much Money for College Presidents

To the Editor:

Don Chance's response ("The Going Rate for a College President," The Chronicle Review, Letters to the Editor, June 18) to Roger W. Bowen and Jane L. Buck's argument that college and university presidents are overpaid ("College Presidents Are Hard-Working, Talented, and Vastly Overpaid," The Chronicle Review, May 7) is a triumph of data-free reasoning.
