Too Many Outstanding Teachers?

To the Editor:

According to the Fact File on "Faculty Attitudes and Characteristics: Results of a 1998-99 Survey" (September 3), nearly 40 per cent of faculty members claim to have won an award for outstanding teaching. Talk about grade inflation!
