Williams College struggles with athletics and admissions

To Morton O. Schapiro, the president of Williams College, it's simple: "If you're a really smart kid, and you're serious about athletics, you'd be nuts not to think about Williams."

As he speaks on a winter afternoon, 10 inches of snow blanket his postcard-cute campus tucked into the northwestern corner of Massachusetts. Students are trooping off to hockey, basketball, swimming, track, and wrestling
