Theoretical Work a Boon for Women

The article "Rigid Tenure System Hurts Young Professors and Women, University Officials Say" (The Chronicle, October 7) provides a broad perspective on the relationship between the structure of work at research universities and the personal and professional goals of some faculty members who are competing for tenure within the traditional academic system.
