The Worst Rejection Letter
Duke University was sent into an uproar when, rather than simply rejecting three Pakistani medical students who had applied for temporary lab-technician posts at the university's hospital, a professor branded them "as potentially lethal as anthrax or HIV" and dismissed them out of hand as candidates.
Imran Bhaila, Hussain Khawaja, and Omer Ashraf all received an e-mail message in December from Michael K. Reedy, a professor of cell biology, that read: "Your ethnicity and your age
