The Women of Project Hope
A few weeks into the book circle, one young woman came in with a bandaged hand. I asked her what had happened.
"Life," she said.
The words of softness I had been about to say curled back into my throat. I had hoped to form a connection through my sympathy; instead, I was reminded again of how distant I felt from these women.
