The True Magnitude of the Vietnam War
To the Editor:
In the interview about his recent book, The Vietnam War and Postmodernity ("Verbatim," June 16), Michael Bibby seriously exaggerates the scale of the Vietnam War: "In some ways, I think, the Vietnam War is at least as important as, if not more important than, World War II. . . . The massive military buildup it precipitated had reverberations across the entire field of production. Certainly it was the longest war, I think the most expensive." . .
