The Role of Community Colleges in Teacher Education
To the Editor:
The move toward community colleges' providing full or partial programs in teacher education strikes me as a step back to the days of normal schools ("States Give Community Colleges a Role in Educating Teachers," March 8). In theory, teacher education has been moving toward a greater degree of professionalization, with a more-rigorous curriculum and more-challenging field experiences. I believe teacher education should be pursued at the graduate level just like law,
