The Public's Right to Know About Campus Crime
To the Editor:
I have to disagree with the comments of an attorney mentioned in your February 1 Short Subjects article "Yale Police Catch Student Napping." According to William F. Dow III, "Police reports are not a matter of public record, especially in a university setting."
In fact, the exact opposite is true. Virtually every court in the country to confront the question has said that the records of campus law-enforcement agencies must be open to the public under their state
