The President of American U. of Beirut Strives for Open Debate
John Waterbury has been president of the American University of Beirut since 1997. He moved to Beirut from Princeton University, where he was director of the Center of International Studies. Mr. Waterbury is the first president to serve in Beirut since the 1984 assassination of Malcolm Kerr, who was the president then.
