The Politics of Buying Green
To the Editor:
In "The Dangerous Delusions of 'Inverted Quarantine'" (The Chronicle Review, January 25), Andrew Szasz asserts that the popular movement toward organic foods and green goods and services is due to what he calls "inverted quarantine," an attempt to protect us from hazards and toxins. He concludes that the movement leads people to "political anesthesia" and a lack of desire to work toward societywide environmental aims.
