The Poet's Advice
Whatever you do, Walt Whitman once advised "young littérateurs," do not write poetry.
Whitman, who is considered one of the greatest of American poets, made the remark in 1888 -- four years before his death -- to two reporters from the student newspaper of the College of New Jersey.
