The Perfect Search for the Perfect Administrator
To the Editor:
The self-importance of administrators and their self-aggrandizement shines through in Dennis M. Barden's "Self-Destructive Tendencies, Part 1" (Careers, May 19). ... Search firms such as his also introduce other practices into these searches, such as secrecy and nondisclosure, which we are supposed to accept without questioning. Faculty searches are still conducted by faculty committees, at far less cost and — in most cases — with general knowledge
