The Nixon Library and Foundation
To the Editor:
As their administrations come to a close, U.S. presidents establish foundations to raise money for libraries to house their records ("Historians Question Partisanship of Nixon Library," The Chronicle, March 18). The National Archives and Records Administration runs the libraries, but the foundations exert varying degrees of influence. Some end up calling the shots on archival issues behind the scenes.
