A Glance at the November Issue of The Scientist: The New Nature of the Open-Access Debate
The debate over open access in science is changing, says Joseph J. Esposito, a publishing consultant. No longer is the battle solely between those who want to embrace free online access to scientific results and those who wish to maintain the traditional model of publishing new findings in subscriber-based journals. Researchers are moving beyond that "false dichotomy," he writes, and "seeing various hybrid models emerging and new, often complex, business arrangements."
