Gawker is holding a contest to determine the most annoying liberal arts college. At this moment, Sarah Lawrence is in the lead with 1,302 votes. Wesleyan isn’t too far behind with 1,106. Way down the list is Goddard with only 40 votes. This either means that (a) Goddard isn’t very annoying, or (b) no one has heard of it.
For those of you too enmeshed in path-breaking research to partake in the swill that is American popular culture, Gawker is an extremely popular blog about celebrities and media types. They care a lot about, for instance, Lindsay Lohan’s alcohol problems. It’s no Crooked Timber, in other words. Which isn’t a bad thing. I’m just saying.
