The Money Pit

Trillwing over at the Clutter Museum does a very brave thing. She details how she got into debt (hint: grad school didn’t help) and how she’s working her way out. If you have any constructive advice, or a war story of your own, please share.

The economic trade-offs (okay, the wallet-emptying, soul-crushing economic burdens) of graduate education have inspired a lot of blogospheric activity lately. See, for instance, this post by Sisyphus at Academic Cog:

“It gets old, scrambling for new funding every few months, and shuddering and closing your eyes whenever the student-loan reminder comes in the mail, and planning everything — or putting things off — based around whether or not you will file or get a job or move back in with your parents. (Don’t laugh! At some point it will seem attractive.)”

Seen other good screeds, rants, exhortations on dollars and sense for grad students? Flag ‘em here.
