The Lower Middle Class in America

Rita Felski makes a complex argument: that Americans talk about class differently than the British do (undoubtedly true), that Americans don't often use the term "working class" to describe themselves or others (not true), and that American scholars do not ... study working-class people and communities (not true for sociologists) ("Why Academics Don't Study the Lower Middle Class," The Review, January 25).
