The Liberal-Arts College as a Home for Research
To the Editor:
To Kristen Ghodsee's excellent "A Research Career at a Liberal-Arts College" (Careers, April 25) I would add that numerous fine scholars have chosen to teach at liberal-arts colleges. Further, at least as important, liberal-arts colleges produce such scholars at a disproportionate rate. Indeed, despite disparities in resources and enrollments, liberal-arts colleges produce more scientists than do research universities, on a per-capita basis.
