The Jurisdiction of the Language Police
To the Editor:
Will H. Corral's essay on Latino language politics struck me as silly ("Beware the Language Police," The Review, July 11).
Here's why: I'm a Latino poet. In educational terms, I'm down here on the ground. My work is published in numerous high-school and middle-school textbooks. My poems are photocopied and handed out in many classes. I visit and speak, in English and Spanish, at schools all over the country. I use all the supposedly banned words and scenarios
