The Importance of the Career Center

Thomas H. Benton's "The Annual Labor-Shortage Hoax" (Careers, September 7) is one of the most courageous critiques of higher education that I've read in years. But, in baseball terms, it was only a triple. It would have been a home run if Benton had taken his compelling argument just one step further and called for the seemingly unthinkable: Career and vocation need to be embedded into the very fabric of higher-education institutions, starting from the student's first
