The Importance of Teaching Centers

Thank you for highlighting the value of teaching centers in your article about the closing of the center at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln ("The Unkindest Cut," March 22). You correctly noted that centers typically provide consultations to faculty members who want to become better teachers, as well as workshops on teaching-related topics. These services are vital for improving student learning, but they are a relatively small part of the usual teaching-center
