The Cost of Contraception
To the Editor:
Forgive me if I don't bleed for college women who face increased costs for birth-control pills, now that campuses no longer can purchase them at a discount ("Bitter Pill," The Chronicle, July 27). So the daily cost has gone from perhaps 27 cents to maybe $1.67. Yes, a huge increase percentage-wise, but hardly catastrophic. If getting pregnant is not on a woman's list of things to do, then this small daily expense should be viewed as an investment in her future.
