Thai Official Proposes Enlisting Violent Vocational Students to Rid Bangkok Streets of Homeless People
Human-rights activists in Thailand are lambasting a plan that calls for vocational students who have been in trouble with the law to "clean the streets" of beggars and homeless people.
The proposal was introduced this month by the minister of social development and human security, Watana Muangsook, who said he wanted troubled youths to channel their efforts into more-constructive activities. Mr. Watana said that using problem teenagers to remove homeless people from the streets solved
