Textbook Publishers Deserve Little Sympathy
To the Editor:
Your April 2 issue had a rather extensive discussion of piracy and the staggering losses faced by the textbook industry ("Don't Steal This Book," The Chronicle). This is no doubt a serious problem for textbook publishers, but they should not expect to garner any sympathy from students. As an undergraduate and then graduate student, I have been subjected to over six years of inflated textbook costs and what can only be seen as unethical practices by publishers to milk
