Texas Southern U. Fires President
The Board of Regents of Texas Southern University fired President James M. Douglas at a meeting this month, just seven months after it had extended his contract for two years.
The move was a surprise to Mr. Douglas, who attended the meeting. "We had just started the board meeting," he said. "And someone made a motion that I be put on leave." The motion passed, and the board then named Priscilla Slade, dean of
