Texas Medical Branch Cuts Its Work Force
The University of Texas Medical Branch will cut almost 10 percent of its work force in the next few months as part of a plan to reduce operating costs and shrink a budget deficit, its president, John D. Stobo, has announced.
About 1,000 workers, including faculty members, staff members, and administrators, will be affected. The medical branch, located in Galveston, includes six hospitals, four schools, and several research institutes. Fifteen percent of the projected job cuts will come
