Texas Lawmakers Consider Bill to Shield Endowment Managers From Disclosing Data on Investments
A bill in the Texas Legislature would protect the University of Texas Investment Management Company from having to disclose detailed information about its private-equity investments.
Attorney General Greg Abbott of Texas ruled last summer that organizations that invest public money must divulge information about investments in private companies, including the current value of those companies.
Some private-equity firms threatened to refuse investments from public institutions
