Texas House Approves Limits on Top-10-Percent Admissions
The University of Texas at Austin would have more flexibility to admit students who did not graduate in the top 10 percent of their high-school classes under legislation approved Monday night by the state’s House of Representatives, the Austin American-Statesman reported today.
Lawmakers voted, 121 to 24, in favor of a measure that would limit automatic admission to the state’s largest and most prestigious public university. The House is expected to give final approval today before sending the measure back to the Senate, which approved
