Texas Community Colleges 'Take Strong Exception' to Governor's Accusation
Gov. Rick Perry has not just withheld money from Texas' community colleges. He has accused them of lying, to boot.
In vetoing $154-million in spending for the institutions last month, Governor Perry, a Republican, accused them of fudging their numbers — to the tune of $126-million — when they told the state how many of their employees would be eligible for state-supported health insurance in the 2008 and 2009 fiscal years.
