Texas A&M at Corpus Christi Turns $25-Million Into $46-Million
It's not often that $25-million is deemed inadequate. But when Robert R. Furgason, the president of Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi, reacted less than enthusiastically to a $25-million gift, it led to the university's largest donation ever from an individual.
Edward H. Harte, the former publisher of the Corpus Christi Caller-Times newspaper, knew he wanted a substantial portion of his estate to help some institution in Corpus Christi.
