Texas A&M Regents Name a Sole Finalist for President, One Never Recommended by Search Committee

The Texas A&M University Board of Regents rejected a search committee's recommendations on Friday and named Elsa A. Murano as sole finalist to become president of the university's flagship campus, in College Station.

Ms. Murano, 48, who serves as vice chancellor of agriculture in the A&M system, as well as dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, would become the first woman, and the first Hispanic, to lead the university. The Havana native joined the A&M faculty
