A faculty strike was averted today at Oakland University, in Michigan, after administrators and faculty-union leaders reached a tentative agreement on a three-year contract, The Detroit News reported. Under the deal, which still faces votes by the university’s board and the union’s members, faculty members would receive raises around 3.25 percent each year. The union is an affiliate of the American Association of University Professors.
