STEPPING DOWN: David W. Adamany, who had both vocal critics and fans during his six years as president of Temple University, will retire in June.
Mr. Adamany, 69, led the urban Philadelphia institution during a period of unprecedented enrollment growth and improved academic standards. But his aggressive stance toward tenure and labor unions gave ammunition to his detractors.
