Teaching Students About Values May Be Harder Than It Seems
To the Editor:
While I found Arthur J. Schwartz's recent piece on the importance of values intriguing, I must say that I cannot endorse or support the infiltration of such pedagogy into the general curriculum of colleges ("It's Not Too Late to Teach College Students About Values," Point of View, June 9). Trying to build character through blunt and forceful indoctrination is ridiculous, and will only turn students away from exploring their own nascent belief
