Teaching Assistants Strike During Exam Week at U. of Washington
About 1,600 graduate assistants at the University of Washington walked off their jobs June 1, leaving the university scrambling to handle exams and final grades as the spring term nears its end.
Two weeks ago, 91 percent of the members of the Graduate Student Employee Action Coalition, an affiliate of the United Auto Workers, voted to strike. A university spokesman said assessing the impact of the strike was difficult.
The strike began on the last day of classes for the spring
