Teacher Association Backs 1 Accreditor
The American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education is trying to promote a strong accreditation system to improve teacher training and to ward off possible government moves to impose new public-school teaching standards.
But when the group's leaders tried last week at their annual meeting to renew a resolution stating that there should be only one accreditor for all teacher-training colleges, the result was an unusually divisive confrontation. The association's officers said
