Tax Break for Michigan Students Triggers Fight Between Governor and Legislators
In 1995, Michigan politicians touted it as a revolutionary plan that would limit tuition costs while putting a few extra dollars in the pockets of students statewide.
But today, Gov. John Engler is gunning for the Tuition Tax Credit program, and a low inflation rate has rendered it moot for all of the state's public universities.
The program provides for a tax credit of up to $375 to Michigan students or their families who pay to attend any Michigan
