Tancredo Plans to Drop Out of Presidential Race

With Iowa’s first-in-the-nation caucuses two weeks from today, one Republican presidential wannabe has decided to call it quits.

Tom Tancredo, a U.S. representative from Colorado, plans to announce today that he is abandoning his run for the Republican nomination, according to the Associated Press.

Mr. Tancredo’s campaign has largely centered on his desire to crack down on illegal immigration. In October, he sought to arrest three immigrant students who were attending a Capitol Hill news conference in support of legislation that would have provided a path to legal residency for some illegal immigrants who were college students and made them eligible for federal student-loan and work-study programs.
