As a participant in "the Jesus wars," ... I read your May 11 article "Battle Lines in the Jesus Wars" with great interest. Although I believe Philip Jenkins's charge of a conspiracy motivated in part by feminism is overdrawn, his critique that those involved with liberal or radical Jesus studies overuse the gospel of Thomas (and other such sources) is correct. Thomas is in all likelihood a second-century document, according to most scholarly studies. ... The
