Supreme Court Spurns Admissions Case
The U.S. Supreme Court declined last week to take up a lawsuit challenging a race-conscious admissions policy formerly used at the University of Washington School of Law.
The dispute involved a policy in use at the law school from 1994 through 1996, before Washington voters passed a 1998 referendum banning the use of racial preferences by public agencies, including colleges. At issue in the case was whether the law school had illegally placed too much emphasis on applicants' race
