Supreme Court Declines to Hear Rochester's Appeal in High-Stakes Patent Case
By GOLDIE BLUMENSTYKThe University of Rochester's costly uphill battle to win billions of dollars in a patent-infringement lawsuit involving the popular anti-inflammatory drugs Celebrex and Bextra ended last week, when the U.S. Supreme Court announced that it would not consider the university's appeal.
The Supreme Court's decision leaves intact a 2003 ruling by a federal court that had found the university's patent invalid.
