Summertime Is Flextime
And on the fifth day, they rested. Or the third. Or whenever.
To ease the burden of high gas prices, Lynchburg College in Virginia is allowing employees to work a compressed schedule this summer. Eligible faculty and staff members can fit in 40 hours per week however they choose, which means a lot of Fridays — or other days — off.
"We couldn't do anything about the price of gas at the pump," says Shirley D. Bates, director of human resources at the college.
